Abstract

The study sought to investigate the role of the Church in curbing cattle raiding in Pokot community. The study established that cattle rustling had various causes to its persistence and had brought various effects in the society. The researcher used questionnaires to collect information from the respondents through descriptive survey method. The researcher formulated the objectives which geared on establishing the role of the church in curbing the vice. The study established that the church must first of all pray to God to intervene on the situation, evangelize the local people and teach the church about the Biblical values. The respondents also identified planting more churches in the affected areas, establishing learning institutions to enlighten the young generation, encouraging the communities to love each other and the church working with the government in enlightening the society as possible ways of curbing cattle raiding. The study therefore recommends that the church must play its role well since the research provides vital information about the vice.
