Mkabala wa uwingi-taaluma hulenga kueleza tatizo nje ya mipaka ya kawaida kwa kuungwa mkono na mikabala tofauti kutoka taaluma mbalimbali na kufikia suluhu zilizo na misingi yake katika uelewa wa hali changamano (Koski na Savolainen, 2016). Bembelezi za Waswahili zinaakisi uchangamano huo; kwamba zinaonekana kuwa na majukumu anuwai katika jamii. Majukumu kama vile ya utakasaji hisia, mawasiliano, uelimishaji halikadhalika uadilishaji. Majukumu haya ndio yanayoibua hisia kwamba zina uwingi-taaluma na hivyo kuwavutia watafiti kuchunguza taaluma mbalimbali zilizomo. Utafiti uliongozwa na nadharia ya uwingi-taaluma kwa mujibu wa Al-Saleem (2018). Data za bembelezi za Waswahili zilikusanywa katika Kisiwa Faza. Washiriki 11 wa kike wenye umri kati ya miaka 18 na 65 waliteuliwa kwa kuelekezwa na mmoja akateuliwa kimaksudi ili kusailiwa. Vikundi lengwa viwili vya mjadala, kila kimoja kikiwa na wasailiwa sita viliundwa kwa misingi ya umri, na data ya bembelezi 20 ikakusanywa kutokana na vikundi hivyo. Hatimaye bembelezi 10 ziliteuliwa kimaksudi ili kuchunguza uwingi taaluma uliomo. Data zilichanganuliwa kimaelezo. Matokeo ya utafiti yalionyesha dhahiri kwamba bembelezi zina uwingi-taaluma na hutumiwa katika miktadha ya shule, nyumbani, matibabu na mingineyo. Utafiti huu unatoa mchango wa kiusomi kwa watafiti wajao wa fasihi simulizi, wataalamu wa masuala ya elimu, wahudumu wa afya, wanasaikolojia na wanataaluma wengineo hususan wa taaluma zilizoshughulikiwa katika makala haya.</p> <p>English</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The concept of multi-disciplinarity refers to integrating or connecting diverse academic knowledge in examining a subject or problem. A multidisciplinary approach aims to explain a problem beyond conventional boundaries by incorporating various perspectives from different disciplines to reach solutions rooted in an understanding of complexity (Koski &amp; Savolainen, 2016). Swahili lullabies reflect this complexity; they appear to serve multiple roles in society, such as emotional cleansing, communication, education, and moral guidance. These roles evoke the idea that lullabies are multidisciplinary, thereby attracting researchers to examine the various disciplines embedded within them. This study was guided by the theory of multi-disciplinarity according to Al-Saleem (2018). Data on Swahili lullabies was collected from Faza Island. Eleven female participants aged between 18 and 65 were selected through snowball sampling, with one selected purposively for research purposes. Two focus group discussions were formed based on age, each with six interviewees, and 20 lullabies were collected from these groups. Ten lullabies were purposively selected for analysis. Data were descriptively analyzed. The findings clearly show that lullabies are multidisciplinary and are used in school, home, healthcare, and other contexts. Kama utanzu mojawapo wa fasihi simulizi, futuhi imetumika pakubwa katika vyombo vya habari kama vile televisheni na redioni kuwafurahisha na kuwachekesha watazamaji na wasikilizaji. Hata hivyo, katika siku za hivi karibuni, futuhi imechukua mkondo tofauti katika uwasilishaji wake. Hii ni kwa sababu ya njia mpya ya mawasiliano ya teknolojia ya kisasa ambayo imezua mitandao ya kijamii kama vile Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram na YouTube. Mbinu mpya za kiteknolojia sasa zipo kwa wingi kuliko wakati mwingine wowote. Licha ya mkurupuko wa mbinu hizi, tusisahau kwamba tangu jadi futuhi imekuwa muhimu katika jamii mbalimbali. Lakini sasa futuhi imekuwa karibu zaidi kwa sababu ya teknolojia ya kisasa. Vile vile, suala la afya ya akili limekuwa nyeti miongoni mwa Wakenya. Hivyo basi, kukawa na haja ya kuchunguza zaidi kuhusu futuhi katika mitandao hii ya kijamii na afya ya akili miongoni mwa Wakenya. Mada hii vile vile ilichaguliwa kwa sababu tafiti ambazo zilihusu futuhi, ziliegemea futuhi katika vitabu vya riwaya na tamthilia na hazikujikita katika suala la afya ya akili. Hivyo basi, makala haya yalinuia kujaza pengo hili kwa kutafitia futuhitandao na afya ya akili miongoni mwa Wakenya, na hasa kwa kuzingatia futuhi zinazopatikana kwenye mitandao ya kijamii hususan Facebook, Twitter na YouTube. Makala haya yalitumia nadharia ya Burudiko ya Sigmund Freud. Utafiti huu ulitumia muundo wa kiethnografia, mkabala wa kithamano. Data kuhusu futuhitandao ilikusanywa kwa mbinu ya Uchanganuzi wa Yaliyomo. Uteuzi wa sampuli ulikuwa wa kimakusudi na kinasibu. Umuhimu wa makala haya ni kuwa, matokeo yake yatasaidia katika ufundishaji wa futuhi. Inapendekezwa kuwa tafiti zaidi zifanywe kuhusu suala la afya ya akili kwa kurejelea vipera vingine vya fasihi simulizi.</p> <p>English</p> <p>Art in its various realization and genres from time immemorial, has had distinct social roles to play. Joke performance, as one of the oral literature genres, has been used at large through media such as television and radio to entertain viewers and listeners. But in the recent times it has taken a different way of presentation. This is because of the numerous ways of communication such as <em>Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube,</em> as a result of the new technology. Nowadays we have many ways of communication than ever before, because of the new technology. Besides this new evolution of ways of communication, let us not forget that comedy has been of great importance to our society and it has been used to tackle many emerging issues that affect the society in Kenya. So there was a greater need, to do a research concerning online comedy and mental health among Kenyans, this is because mental health has become such a big issue in our country. The purpose of this study was to show the role of online comedy and how it can be used to tackle issues related to mental health among Kenyans. This research topic was picked because those who researched on comedy dwelled on literature books, that is, novels and plays. This research therefore aimed at filling the gap by studying online comedy and mental health among Kenyans. The study was guided by humour theory of Sigmund Freud. This research adopted descriptive case study design. The study was carried out through social media platforms specifically <em>Facebook, Twitter </em>and<em> YouTube</em>. Purposive and random sampling techniques were used. This research used content analysis guide, as its method of data collection. This research showed that there is relationship between online comedy and mental health among Kenyans, from the data that was collected, and that, online comedy as any other genre has various roles to play. Madhumuni ya utafiti huu yalikuwa kuhakiki mbinu za kimtindo zinazotumika kujenga utaifa wa jamii ya Akamba katika nyimbo pendwa teule za Ken wa Maria. Utafiti huu uliongozwa na Nadharia ya Umitindo iliyoasisiwa na Leech pamoja na Short. Nadharia ya Umitindo huchunguza namna msanii wa fasihi hutumia lugha kwa namna ya kipekee ili kumwezesha kuwasilisha ujumbe wake kwa hadhira lengwa. Mihimili ya nadharia hii ndiyo iliyoelekeza utafiti huu wakati wa kukusanya, kuchanganua na kuwasilisha data kwa kuzingatia madhumuni ya utafiti. Muundo wa utafiti huu ni muundo elezi. Utafiti huu ulifanyiwa katika maktaba ili kupata data. Sampuli ya kimakusudi ilitumika ili kupata nyimbo 24 ambazo zilipakuliwa kutoka mtandao wa <em>YouTube</em> na <em>Mdundo.com</em>. Nyimbo hizi zilitafsiriwa katika lugha ya Kiswahili kisha kuchanganuliwa ili kubainisha mbinu za kimtindo alizotumia msanii Ken wa Maria kujenga utaifa wa jamii ya Akamba. Data ilichanganuliwa na matokeo yake kufafanuliwa kwa kutumia mbinu ya kimaelezo. Uwasilishaji wa data ya utafiti ulifanywa kwa njia ya kimaelezo. Utafiti huu ulibaini kwamba kunazo mbinu za kimtindo kama vile jazanda, methali, misemo, chuku, matumizi spesheli ya lugha na misemo iliyotumiwa na msanii kujenga utaifa wa jamii ya Akamba. Utafiti zaidi unaweza kufanywa kuhusiana na mada hii hasa jinsi wasanii wengine kutoka jamii ya Akamba wanavyotalii suala la ujenzi wa utaifa wa jamii.</p> <p>English</p> <p>The aim of this study was to investigate how selected popular songs by Ken wa Maria promote nationalism among the Akamba community. The specific objective of the study was to examine literary devices used by Ken wa Maria in his popular music to promote nationalism among the Akamba. This study was guided by the stylistics theory whose proponent is Leech and Short. The stylistics theory holds that language is a significant ingredient in literature. It also argues that the writer uses unique language style to convey the message to the audience. The tenets of this theory were used in collecting and analyzing data in regard to the research objective. The study was descriptive library-based research. The researcher used purposive sampling to identify 24 popular songs by Ken wa Maria which were downloaded from <em>YouTube </em>and<em> Mdundo.com. </em>The songs were transcribed and translated to Kiswahili. An analysis of the stylistic devices used in the songs was conducted. Data was analyzed qualitatively in view of the research objective. This study revealed how the stylistic choices in contextual usage contribute to the promotion of Kamba nationalism among the Akamba. The findings of this research illuminate the significance of popular music in the development of ethno-nationalism. The findings of this study will contribute to the theory of music in oral literature. The study will benefit scholars of oral literature to establish the emerging themes in popular music.
